At the village of Sun and tradition Apollona... in the heart of Rhodes... a carefully crafted “Paragka”, a traditional Greek cabin, becomes the meeting point for the flavour connoisseurs on the island, locals and visitors !
The Greek Cookhouse "Paraga" is located at the entrance of the Apollona village at the point where the Italian officers' club was in the past. Today, the families of Euthymiou and Sedona, as other guards of tradition, offer to every visitor the authentic flavors of Rhodian cuisine.
The land of Apollona gives us the raw material. We take special care in creating unique flavours, which bring our childhood memories back, days when our mother’s wood oven would spread its warm smell all over the neighbourhood.
We welcome you with hot trahana soup, a delicious traditional Greek soup made with milk and wheat and we set the table with a variety of homemade bread, served on local mint leaves, pistacia, myrtle twigs and sage, which add their distinctive fragrance to the homemade village bread. Seasonal greens and herbs with fleur de sel and extra virgin olive oil from the olive groves of Profitis Ilias, aubergine rolls, chickpea frittatas, the famous Greek stuffed vine leaves, dolmadakia, and the mouth-watering white cheese “anthotyro” wrapped in rustic phyllo and served with sweet wine grapes appear on the table stealing the show.
The restaurant smells of Greece and the visitor can choose among the traditional dishes cooked in the wood oventhe traditional casserole, the “tsouka”, or grilled.
“Kapamas” with fragrant stuffing, goat with beans or chickpeas, “pastasouta” goat in tomato sauce with handmade pasta and myzithra cheese, snails casserole, local meat and many more flavours based on original Greek recipes, are perfectly paired with wines from local vineyards.
The homemade sweet preserves made of bitter orange or grapes will arrive as a god-sent gift, served in small lanterns hanging from the roof, which will gracefully land on your table and enhance the sweet memories of your visit.
The charming environment of “Paragka“, made of stone and wood, decorated with traditional hand-painted Rhodian crockery and elements of Rhodian folk tradition is in perfect balance with the beautiful village environment and invites the visitor to taste soul warming recipes...
